Adoption Updates

April 25, 2010

Our travel date fast approaches!  In just over a month, we'll meet Hope for the first time.  We depart on June 3rd and will return on June 18th.  We're still not certain about a travel date for Caleb.  Please keep praying.  All future updates and photos (from when we're in China) will be continued at

The Lord continues to bless us abundantly and we are now excitedly preparing for the arrival of Hope.  Though we don't yet have our travel date (we should receive that in 2-4 weeks), we've been told that we'll most likely be traveling near the end of April or early May.  Steve is officiating a wedding mid-May, the boys are involved in the wedding, and Steve has a doctoral program for two weeks following the wedding. Timing is looking a bit crunched! We'd appreciate your prayers that God, in His perfect wisdom, would orchestrate the schedule for
His glory, and that He would give us peace that all will work out just as He ordains it.

Excitedly, we have been given the "okay" to show pictures of Hope on this blog.  This week she should receive our care package and know that we're coming to get her.  Pray for her, please!  May the Lord be honored through this process as He allows us to be a part of redeeming our child from orphanhood.

January 30, 2010   The Lord's Blessings

Foreign adoptions are expensive, and by human standards we couldn't fathom how on earth we'd foot the nearly $35,000-40,000 necessary to bring our children home.  But as a friend recently reminded us, we serve the God "who owns the cattle on a thousand hills."  We cannot even begin to recount the many blessings the Lord has bestowed upon us these past three years.  From the hands of young children we've been given piggy-bank savings and aluminum can earnings.  Our children have made countless jars of jam to sell, labored long hours, given generously, and prayed ceaselessly.  Teens have given us jars of saved coins, home business donations, and carefully tied packages of hard-earned dollars.  Friends have shared their talents and treasures to fund-raise and gift us or have simply surprised us with checks tucked into our hands at unexpected times. Our extended family has given sacrificially and young adults have donated chunks of money that we know cost them comfort, and friends and strangers alike have visited this website and made donations and bids on our collection of items.  But it's about more than money.  Most overwhelming of all has been the prayer support and words of great encouragement we've received.  We have been blessed richly and beyond measure!  How many tears of joy have been shed as we've been shown again and again, the great and mighty deeds of our Lord!  He was even so good as to give us additional delightful news this week.  Our oldest child, Heather, and her husband, David, are expecting again--our second grandchild!

On another note, some of you have asked to see pictures of Hope and Caleb.  We're not allowed to post pictures of Hope or Caleb on the on the Internet.  Just know that they're darling kiddos and we can't wait to hold them in our arms.  Please continue praying for our patience as we wait on the Lord's timing.  Also, pray that the hearts of these two precious kids will be turned towards Him.
